Need Magazine

Need Magazine

Objective:
Fusion Hill was engaged to create a design format for a new magazine called NEED. The quarterly publication is dedicated to telling the stories of human struggles and successes around the world. Photography and short editorials submitted by artists, writers and inspired individuals highlight global topics and identify how readers can get involved and make a difference.

Methodology:
Fusion Hill partnered with the creators and editors of NEED Magazine to understand the publication’s mission and objectives. Our design team presented three directions to highlight the images of nationally renowned photographers and novices alike. Written content was kept to a minimum, paying homage to the old adage “a picture tells a thousand words”.

Outcome:
Since its launch in 2006, NEED Magazine has won numerous awards.

• NEED won multiple gold awards from the Minnesota Magazine & Publications Association in 2009 for special interest publications with circulation under 60,000: Best Overall Design, Best Use of Visuals/Photography, Overall Excellence
• NEED won a gold award at Folio’s 2007 Ozzie Awards for “Best Use of Photography.”
• November 2007, MSNBC.com Nightly News led with the article “NEED Magazine Tells Stories of Hope.”

Fusion Hill is proud to be a principal sponsor of the magazine. Our design and production is donated in kind for the development of this important initiative.
